Hafford selected as Seattle Pro-Am All-Star
Guard Paul Hafford will be representing the Bellingham Slam at the 2016 Seattle Pro-Am All-Star game this weekend, the league has announced.
Hafford is the team’s leading scorer among active players, averaging 16 points per game. He is also averaging 6 rebounds per game, and his strong three-point shooting has proved to be a difference maker in several games this season.
Hafford will be a member of the East team at the All-Star game, which takes place on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Royal Brougham Pavilion in Seattle. The exhibition will feature 16 of the Pro-Am’s top athletes as well as a number of yet-to-be-announced NBA players. Hafford would have likely been joined on his squad by Slam forward Anye Turner, who is the team’s current leader in both points and rebounds, but departed last week to join his new team in Germany.
The former Lynden Christian star is enjoying a strong season for Bellingham, suiting up once again for the team he last played for in 2012. Since then, he has spent time competing overseas in Australia and with the International Basketball League’s Vancouver Volcanoes.
Hafford will also be participating in the Pro-Am’s pre-game festivities as a competitor in the league’s three-point shooting contest. He will be joined by Slam guard Morris Anderson, who has been invited to take part in the slam dunk competition. The dunk and three-point contests get underway at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
The Slam, playing in their first season as a member of the Seattle Pro-Am league, has posted a 5-2 record and has clinched a spot in the Pro-Am playoffs, which begin on August 21. The Slam still has one regular season game remaining, on August 20 at Noon at Royal Brougham Pavilion.
